SEATTLE, Washignton.. (SC)— The Seahawks have traded their rookie FS Davon Morrison and veteran DE Patrick Kerney to the Eagles for veteran FS Quniten Demps andveteran DE Darren Howard also in another deal just minutes after Seahwaks recieved HB Lorenzo Booker and ROLB Calvin Pace and sent the Eagles HB Julius Jones and OLB/DE Darrel Tapp.
When asked about these moves the Seahawks front office said "...adding another veteran FS Quninten Demps to the defensive backfield would help the defense be a little more versatile when calling plays and we feel like Calvin Pace could help out as depth at any LB spot and can play at DE in certain situations help to get pressure on the QB. HB Jones was sent for Lorenzo Booker to give the offense a little more speed and he will spend some time on special teams returning kicks (something we never had a season ago)".
When asked if the movement at FS had anything to do with Chargers rookie WR Jamarrian Bellows “Posterizing” the CB and FS on a 70+ yard TD catch and run that may have been the difference in a close game? Jim Mora JR. rolled his eyes and said , “YES , that had a little to do with it plus I've seen plenty of film on Demps he was a guy I had my eye on since his college days and he is a veteran that I feel confidant with he is a ball hawking safety he reads plays well and he will make some plays for us . Kerney was a pro I hate to see him go but I felt like we have a good rotation on the defensive line to keep guys fresh he will be missed he was with me in Atlanta and I really liked his work habits and attitude he should be a good fit in Philly “ .
